Quality An operating success - and a great place for lunch

The Royal College of Surgeons is a long-standing client of Ambience Designs and we were very enthusiastic when they asked us to help them revive a run-down venue to create a vibrant new eating place.

They wanted high-quality, long-lasting restaurant furniture and the distinctive, 1950s-style interior, conceived by 442 Designs, called for something pretty special.

Choice A feel-good design, creating a place where people want to be

We worked hard to understand exactly what Café 1505 needed and then came back to the client and designers with a number of contract furniture options, using our industry contacts both in the UK and across Europe.

The final choice, of British manufactured solid wood tables, chairs, barstools and upholstery, complements the unique décor perfectly, creating a laid-back space it’s a pleasure to spend time in.

Functionality Practical and attractive: an outdoor area that looks good all year

Ambience Designs created the concept for the outdoor eating area – which gives Café 1505 an additional 16 covers and a stylish presence on the street.

As well as chairs, café barriers and planters, the outdoor restaurant furniture includes an innovative idea from Sweden – the Stable Table. We chose good-looking, Iroko table tops, and the product’s unique design means that wobbly legs levelled with bits of cardboard are a thing of the past!

Popular A new cafe and a rejuvenated neighbourhood

With stunning décor, an outlook onto the peaceful gardens of the Royal College, and a total of 64 covers (48 of them inside), Café 1505 is now a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike.

In a prime spot, just over the road from the Festival Theatre Edinburgh, the stylish outdoor section and beautiful branding at Café 1505 have given the whole street a lift. And you can get a very good cup of coffee there, too.
